Cayla's Court November 27
CAIRNS should be ready for some exciting matches as we dive into Cayla’s Court for a wrap up of round three this weekend and kick off round four.
Teams are holding up well as we reach the halfway point of the season in a tough scenario where most players and staff are away from their families, kids, husbands and wives.
Not even at international events like the Olympics or World Cup would players be in such close quarters for such a long time so we’re all very aware of looking out for each other in these unique circumstances.
The main focus for teams right now is to keep doing the right things, keep recovering and keep pushing on. This will make for some epic battles in the coming week with Adelaide now out of quarantine, in a revised season that has seen each team’s game schedule reduce from 14 games to 13.
Some courtside action to look out for include the double headers in Cairns on Saturday and Townsville on Tuesday.
Sat November 28 2.00pm Cairns: Townsville vs Southside: Expect a really good, upbeat bout here.
Townsville have just come off three big wins in a row and Southside have had two big losses recently.
They’re still the team to beat though with seven past and present Opals on their side.
4pm Cairns: Adelaide vs Sydney Uni: I’m looking forward to this match up. Both teams are vying for that finals spot here so expect a good evening of basketball in Cairns on Saturday.
Tues December 1 6pm Townsville: UC Capitals vs Melbourne: We lost to the Capitals in Mackay and didn’t really play our great Boomers brand of basketball. Canberra are really well drilled, well-oiled and we just want to make sure we’re matching that with a better contest and hopefully come out with a win.
8pm Townsville: Perth vs Bendigo: Perth pipped Bendigo last time but I think Bendigo will be hungry for their first win. You can never underestimate anyone. Perth have only had one win which was to Bendigo in Mackay so this will be a good one.
