Both cabin supervisor and inflight customer experience trainer Jacqueline Caspersen and cabin supervisor and cabin crew line trainer and checker Jade Lankester hail from Mareeba.

Ms Caspersen grew up on a tobacco farm in an area known as “Paddy’s Green” west of Mareeba, while Ms Lankester grew up across from the Mareeba Aerodrome, “so some of my childhood memories were of the annual air show”.

Ms Caspersen said low clouds on the Cairns rainforest mountains during the monsoon season were breathtaking.

“Cairns always meant that I was almost home,” she said.

Ms Lankster said: “Cairns will always be home. Most of my family and friends still live there, so it’s always special to visit the area and just spend quality time with them.”

She said she only returned to Cairns about twice a year. “ ... but I’m so excited to get home more often now with direct Sunshine Coast to Cairns return services.”

Fares for Cairns to the Sunshine Coast start at $79 per person. The maiden flight arrives on Monday, March 27.
