SAILAWAY Port Douglas and the Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre have collaborated and are now offering a ‘Rainforest to Reef’ full day tour and ‘Rainforest to Sunset Sail’ half-day tour.

Officially launched at the Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre earlier this month, both organisations believe that this new land and sea offering will be a great attraction for visitors to the Douglas Shire.
The Rainforest to Reef full day experience will begin with a 1.5 hour Ngadiku ‘Dreamtime Morning Walk’ through Mossman Gorge, led by local indigenous guides who share stories, traditions and the significance of the ancient rainforest.
Guests will then set sail for the Low Isles and discover the Reef through snorkelling, a glass bottom boat tour and an island heritage walk.
“It’s all-inclusive where guests have nothing to worry about,” said Matthew Lloyd, JB Sailaway Port Douglas operations manager.
“They’ll be picked up from their doorstep, have an amazing adventure with the Mossman Gorge Dreamtime Walk, then a trip to the Low Isles, sailing back into the sunset with a glass of champagne, a cheese platter and some canapes,” he said.
“Guests will be returned to their resort or hotel in the evening.”
The Rainforest to Sunset Sail afternoon experience will also begin with a 1.5 hour ‘Ngadiku Dreamtime Afternoon Walk’ through the ancient rainforest of the Mossman Gorge, led by local indigenous guides from the KuKu Yalanji people.
This will be followed by an opportunity to unwind aboard a Sailaway Sunset Sail that departs from Port Douglas Superyacht Marina.
“Sip your beverage of choice and enjoy delicious canapes as the sun sets over the spectacular Port Douglas coastline and Daintree mountain ranges,” Mr Lloyd said.
Mossman Gorge general manager Rachel Hodges said: “The great thing about this is that guests will have exclusive access to land that other visitors to Mossman Gorge would not normally get.”
“They’ll have authentic guides from the local community that have grown up and live and breathe culture every day,” she said.
