Women’s sport in focus
THE power of women in sport will be under the spotlight this weekend with ‘Her Sport, Her Future’ – a dynamic fundraising event coming to CPAC dedicated to championing women and girls in sport across Far North Queensland.

From 2pm tomorrow (May 18) the Cairns Performing Arts Centre will be filled with elite athletes, industry leaders and local changemakers engaging in meaningful conversations about women sports, the achievements and the long road ahead.
Through an engaging program of keynote speakers, panel discussions and networking opportunities, attendees will dive into the real issues facing women in sport – from representation and inclusion to leadership and high-performance challenges.
Her Sport, Her Future will focus on celebrating the achievements in women’s sport so far, highlight the barriers still to be broken and drive strategic, sustainable change to continue to make women’s sport an inclusive and successful career venture for female athletes in the region.
Panellists and guest speakers will share powerful personal stories of resilience and growth, while exploring how sport can be a game-changer for women and girls in every community.
Through these powerful talks, guests will hear firsthand stories of resilience, leadership and the impact of community-driven initiatives.
Organisers say Her Sport, Her Future is more than a moment – it’s a movement. By bringing stakeholders together from grassroots to elite levels, the event aims to amplify female voices, uncover new pathways and champion the next generation of sportswomen.
“This is a chance to listen, learn and lead,” an event spokeswoman said.
“We want everyone – athletes, coaches, supporters and advocates – to be part of shaping a future where women and girls not only participate in sport but thrive.”
The event is aimed at anyone in the community, whether an aspiring athlete, a community leader, or someone passionate about equity in sport, to attend the event and have the opportunity to be part of real lasting impact in the future of women’s sport.
“We invite you to be part of this movement, to share your insights, and to help shape the vision for a future where all women and girls have the opportunity to thrive in sport,” the spokeswoman said.
