ROUND 15 of the women’s competition bounces off in Port Douglas as the fourth-placed Crocs face the rampant third-placed Dogs.
Unbelievably, both teams come into this clash without conceding a single point last round and the Dogs incredibly have not conceded a single point since 27 June, which means we could be in for a very exciting 0-0 draw.
Fantastical scenarios aside, there is a lot riding on this clash for both teams.
The Crocs know a win would just about secure fourth place and a second consecutive finals series, while the Dogs are chasing the Cutters in second for an all-important double chance come finals. Should be a real humdinger in prime time in the Nest.
The first of two 5.15pm bounces sees the Hawks host the Lions at Cazalys for a must-win clash.
Both teams are two wins back of the Crocs in fourth and will see Saturday as a huge opportunity to close the gap.
More immediately, both teams are on significant losing streaks, so the motivation will be high from the outset for the players.
If they needed anymore motivation, the Hawks will be out to right the wrongs of the previous clash between these two teams, where the Lions won by 104 points while also keeping a clean sheet.
Round 15 finishes off at Fretwell Park as the Cutters play host to the Saints.
The Saints are an ever-improving outfit and their return of two wins on the season is an unfair reflection of their efforts.
They have been in a number of games, but have struggled to close them out against more fancied opponents.
A prime example is the last match-up between these two clubs.
Despite the lofty position of the Cutters, the Saints lead well at half-time before eventually going down by just seven points.
A win on Saturday would be just reward for their efforts.
The Cutters, though, will be in no mood for charity, as they know the Dogs are coming hard for the second spot on the ladder they currently occupy.
A win for both the Dogs and Cutters will set up a huge clash next week, but they both must get the job done this week.
