Titled ‘Drawn to the Wild’, the exhibition and sale of paintings will run from 1-31 July at Artists@Work, 51 Lake St, Cairns.

Dr Marshall, a retired veterinarian, has built a reputation as a wildlife artist with national and international recognition.

Her work is inspired by extensive travel to wild places and wildlife sanctuaries around the world, where she gathers reference material for her paintings.

According to the exhibition information, Dr Marshall has travelled widely, visiting destinations across Africa, North, South and Central America, Europe, Asia, Antarctica and Australia. Her artwork reflects subjects ranging from wildlife and landscapes to people encountered during her travels.

Her career highlights include being invited to India to take part in “Project Tiger”, travelling to China to open an exhibition for Artists for Conservation (Canada), and escorting and teaching Australian and Namibian artists in Africa.

Dr Marshall said conservation themes are central to her work. “My art works reflect my experiences and it is my hope that, with the stories they tell, it is also brought home to viewers the importance of conservation issues to help the lives of not only the wildlife, but the people who live in these amazing places, and who are developing the ecotourism industry as a learning experience for those who visit.”
