$2.4m for theatre groups
THREE leading Far North Queensland arts organisations will share in more than $2.4 million over four years through the Queensland Government’s landmark Organisations Fund 2026–29, securing jobs and creating new creative opportunities in the region.

They are:
JUTE Theatre Company – $297,000 per year ($1.188 million over four years)
Nintiringanyi Indigenous Corporation – $110,000 per year ($440,000 over four years)
NorthSite Contemporary Arts Ltd – $198,000 per year ($792,000 over four years).
Creative industries assistant minister and Member for Barron River Bree James said the funds would “support theatre, dance, circus and visual arts experiences across the region and mean more jobs for local artists, more theatre on our stages and more opportunities for our young people”.
JUTE executive artistic director Chris Kohn said the multi-year funding provided certainty, a solid foundation over the next four years to develop new shows, engage with diverse audiences and grow programs.
