Undara Rock and Blues mark 20th
THE countdown is on for the 20th anniversary of the Undara Rock and Blues Festival, with organisers urging locals to head west and support businesses along the Savannah Way.

The festival will run from 24-26 April at Discovery Parks – Undara, coinciding with the start of the visitor season, which started on 1 April with the opening of Cobbold Gorge.
Tourism Tropical North Queensland chief executive officer Mark Olsen said the event provided a strong incentive for a road trip along the iconic route.
“Locals eagerly await the Easter holidays to start heading west and enjoy the cooler weather of the Savannah Way country with the season in full swing when the Undara Rock and Blues Festival kicks off on the Anzac Day weekend,” he said.
Mr Olsen said the region needed support after several difficult years.
“This year more than ever the Savannah Way needs visitors after four years of prolonged wet weather shortening the visitor season and the most recent floods impacting infrastructure at Einasleigh and isolating some residents for almost four months,” he said.
G’day Group and Discovery Resorts Grant Wilckens founder said the festival had become a key event for the region.
“Events like the Undara Rock and Blues Festival, not only showcase incredible Australian talent, they also play an important role in supporting regional communities by bringing visitors, creating local opportunities and celebrating the unique character of iconic destinations like Undara,” he said.
