Trio trusts rock ‘n roll
THE Living End have added a second Cairns performance to their upcoming regional tour after the band’s first show at Tanks Art Centre sold out.

The original Cairns date on Wednesday 12 August has sold out, with a second show now scheduled for Thursday 13 August at Tanks Art Centre.
The Cairns concerts form part of The Living End’s ‘I Only Trust Rock n Roll’ Regional Tour 2026, which will take the Australian rock band through regional centres across the country.
The tour follows the release of the band’s first album in eight years, I Only Trust Rock n Roll, which came out last year.
The Living End bassist Scott Owen told Cairns Local News that the band’s first album in eight years was shaped by the uncertainty of recent years.
“It was a crazy time, especially for us long-suffering Melbournians, who were the most locked-down city in the world,” he said.
“There were all sorts of things that we had to get used to, strange, bizarre things that we had to try and get used to.”
Mr Owen said the album’s title reflected a search for certainty.
“In a world where there’s not a lot of things that you can trust, I really trust that feeling,” he said.
“I was reminded of how much I love going to a pub and watching a rock and roll band.”
Mr Owen said the band always enjoyed playing in Far North Queensland.
“Cairns is one of those places where a lot of people are just party people,” he said.
“So it’s always fun to play out there.”
Fans can expect a setlist featuring material from the new album alongside many of the band’s best-known songs including ‘White Noise’, ‘Roll On’, ‘Who’s Gonna Save Us’, ‘All Torn Down’, ‘Second Solution’ and ‘Prisoner of Society’.
According to tour organisers, the new album is the band’s “leanest, fiercest, most locked-and-loaded statement to date”, with the regional dates following a packed-out capital city tour last year.
The announcement comes as The Living End prepare for induction into the ARIA 2026 Hall of Fame. The band was recently named as an inductee in recognition of its contribution to the Australian music industry and will be officially inducted at the ARIA Hall of Fame Special Event on 11 June.
