The Honey Sliders revisit 1969
AWARD-winning band The Honey Sliders will bring the sights and sounds of 1969 to life at the Tanks Arts Centre on Saturday, August 16, with their immersive new show '1969 – A Year in Music'.

The nine-piece group, featuring a horn section, backing vocalists and percussion, will take audiences on a sonic journey through one of history’s most iconic years, performing live in front of a vivid screen projection that pays tribute to the music, politics and cultural upheaval that defined the end of the sixties.
Frontman Danny Widdicombe said the band was excited to return to Cairns following two consecutive sellout shows at the same venue.
“We can’t wait to come back,” he said.
“This year I’m celebrating both my 50th birthday, and the 30th anniversary of living with leukaemia, so we’re going hard and playing shows all over the country.”
1969 – A Year in Music revisits the peace and rebellion of Woodstock, the awe of the moon landing and the bittersweet release of Abbey Road, The Beatles’ final album.
The soundtrack features iconic hits from The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Creedence Clearwater Revival, David Bowie, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane and more.
The show also explores the darker side of the era, including the violent end to flower power at the Altamont Free Concert, along with Vietnam War and the Cold War.
The show starts at 7.30pm, with tickets available via the Tanks Arts Centre website until sold out.
