Talent search opens
EMERGING country artists are invited to enter the Peter Blundell Memorial Talent Search, which returns to Great Keppel Island as part of the 2026 Sunset Sessions.
Entries close on 5 October 2026, with five finalists selected to compete live on Great Keppel Island on Friday 13 November. There are no age restrictions and the competition is open to all emerging performers.
The competition honours the late Peter Blundell, a supporter of emerging talent and the founder of Country on Keppel, which previously brought live country music to the Great Keppel Island Hideaway.
The winner will receive a Takamine guitar and road case, mentoring sessions with industry professionals, the opportunity to open Sunset Sessions on Saturday 14 November, and a paid performance at next year’s festival. All five finalists will receive mentoring from James Blundell and Lyn Bowtell before the competition.
Previous finalists have travelled from as far as Western Australia and New Zealand, while last year’s winner, Lily-Grace Grant from Northern NSW, will return to Great Keppel Island to perform this year.
