Taking the bull by the horns
BRISBANE brass-hop collective BULLHORN will return to Cairns this Saturday 7 November 2026, bringing its blend of brass, hip-hop and funk to Tanks Arts Centre as part of its Australian album tour.

The nine-piece band will perform tracks from its new 10-track album ‘The Look Out’, alongside long-time friends, Fat Picnic.
BULLHORN sousaphone player Steve Buchanan said the band was looking forward to returning to Far North Queensland.
“It’s awesome to head back to Cairns. It’s genuinely one of our favourite cities to tour. It’s so beautiful and the people are great,” Mr Buchanan said. “We’re so excited about the new album. It’s been in the works for a long time, and we’re super proud of it.
“It’s everything you get from BULLHORN in the live show as well with big brass horns, heavy hip hop and good times.”
Recorded across Brisbane, The Look Out explores themes of success, identity, belonging, love, uncertainty, community and resilience, reflecting years of touring and change for the band.
The album’s focus track, ‘Stack’, examines the stories people inherit about success, value and identity, questioning what people accumulate over their lives and the potential cost of losing sight of what matters most.
Across the album, BULLHORN blends horn arrangements and driving rhythms with hip-hop lyricism and storytelling, drawing on influences from funk, jazz and brass band traditions.
Mr Buchanan said the Cairns performance would bring the band’s new material to life alongside its familiar touring companions.
“Just get ready to dance your booty off,” he said.
“BULLHORN and Fat Picnic have toured a lot together. We’re old friends. It’s all about the dance floor.”
The show at Tanks Arts Centre begins at 7.15pm on Saturday 7 November, with doors opening at 6.30pm. Tickets are $50 and available via the Tanks Arts Centre website: www.cnslocal.s.gy/ok3ZQZ
