Take a ride in an army duck for a good cause
RAINFORESTATION Nature Park will celebrate its 50th anniversary with ‘Army Duck Celebration Day’ on Saturday 6 June, a one-day community event raising funds for FNQ Legacy Club, the organisation that supports the families of veterans across Far North Queensland.

The day puts the park’s fleet of authentic WWII DUKW amphibious vehicles, known to generations of visitors as the ‘army ducks’, front and centre.
Rainforestation operates one of the largest fleets of its kind in Australia and the vehicles have been carrying guests through the rainforest almost since the park first opened its gates 50 years ago.
A share of every army duck ticket sold on the day will go directly to FNQ Legacy Club, with an official cheque presentation to take place at noon.
Alongside the army duck rides, the event includes full access to the park’s wildlife collection and food and drink throughout the day.
The CaPTA Group sales and marketing director Ben Wioiodward said “reaching 50 years is a real milestone for us”.
“The army ducks have been part of the Rainforestation story almost from the very beginning,” he said.
“It felt right to mark the occasion by doing something for the community and supporting FNQ Legacy and the families they look after is a cause that means a great deal to our team.”
The date carries its own significance as 6 June is the anniversary of the D-Day landings, when DUKW vehicles of the same type served alongside Allied forces at Normandy, a fitting backdrop for a day that supports the veteran community.
The event is open to the public and CaPTA Group Annual Pass members receive free park entry as part of their membership.
