Cassowary Coast defeated North in a significant match, with Tony Ura scoring an impressive 100 on a challenging wicket.

“It was a really impressive 100,” said Cairns Cricket CEO Daniel Freebody, highlighting Mr Ura’s performance on the difficult pitch.

Atherton also claimed victory, defeating Rovers Cricket Club. Riley Lennon starred for Atherton, taking three wickets for eight runs across six overs.

Mulgrave also secured a win, defeating Mareeba. Will Robinson delivered a standout performance, taking five wickets for eight runs in his five overs.

The weekend’s matches included several strong performances, with Cassowary Coast’s victory over North and Atherton’s win over Rovers Creek described as upsets.

Mr Freebody noted that the results could impact how teams shape up for the finals later in the season.

Looking ahead, this weekend features a double header with first-grade matches on both Saturday and Sunday.

“If you win two games, you’re going well. If you lose two games, you really fall behind,” said Mr Freebody, noting the importance of the upcoming round in setting the tone for the rest of the season. Key matchups include Mulgrave versus Barron, currently the top two teams in the league.
