Student able to train close to home
A CARAVONICA student has joined the first intake of CQUniversity’s Bachelor of Medical Imaging in Cairns, as part of a new course aimed at addressing workforce shortages in Far North Queensland.

Talia Moolenschot, who graduated Year 12 from Redlynch State College, is among 18 students accepted into the inaugural cohort.
The course is designed to help bridge the gap in the region’s medical imaging workforce.
“It’s exciting to be part of something new and much needed in this region,” she said.
“I feel proud knowing we’ll be helping address the shortage of local radiographers and improving health outcomes for Far North Queensland residents.”
Ms Moolenschot, who is the first in her family to attend university, said her interest in healthcare developed into a clear career path after attending a CQUniversity’s open day.
“Hearing directly from medical imaging professionals and learning about the wide range of modalities – and how quickly the technology is evolving – really inspired me to apply.”
The launch of the course in Cairns has allowed Ms Moolenschot to remain close to home while beginning her tertiary studies.
