The main celebrations will take place on Saturday 11 July, from 10am to 5pm, with Yungaburra’s CBD closed to traffic and filled with an impressive display of vintage, veteran and classic vehicles.

Organisers hope the township will become a photographer’s dream, recreating the atmosphere of the early decades of motoring on the Tablelands.

The celebration is free and has been designed as a family-friendly event with entertainment and activities for all ages.

Yungaburra Association president Rolf Straatemeier said “it is important to celebrate milestones in a community”.

“The Gillies Centenary Celebration will be an amazing time for us to continue drawing together and to recognise those attributes which makes the Atherton Tablelands a fantastic place to live in, work in or visit,” he said.
