After a promising start the week before to their ReefBowl campaign, the Falcons were left ruing what could have been.

After a slow and sloppy start, the Falcons staged a strong comeback to eventually go down 36 – 32 against the Mavericks.

The second half featured strong performances from Chris Wilkins, quarterback Brendon Kruger and running back Aiden Day.

Kruger continues to impress after only two outings as quarterback. Remaining calm under pressure and seizing opportunities, Kruger is developing strongly in his role directing the attack.

This weekend the Falcons are back in Townsville to play the Chargers for the second time this year, having defeated them at home in the series opener, 46 – 8. The Chargers are coming off a disastrous season start, conceding 128 points from their first two games.

Falcon’s Coash, Jim Garcia was philosophical about last week’s loss.

“We scored 32 points, this normally is a winning score. We just went to sleep in the first quarter and played catch-up from that time on.

Garcia has not panicked in training this week. “We don’t need to do anything different, other than one quarter they did not play badly, defence needs to pick its game up, and we’ll see if they can do it better this week.
