The venue’s BAR36 will host three themed weekends throughout June, featuring tribute acts and reunion performances designed to revisit some of the most popular eras in music.

Entertainment manager Bruce Stewart said the concept had been years in the making.

“I’ve always wanted to dedicate a whole month to the eras –70s one weekend, 80s the next, then the 90s. This is our party year, so why not go big? If I had a great 60s band, I’d have locked that in too. Next time.”

The celebrations begin on 12-13 June with Disco Revolution, a Sydney-based act featuring disco hits, multimedia production and themed costumes.

The following weekend, on 19-20 June, Bigger Badder Big Noise will take audiences back to the 1980s with a performance inspired by the decade’s music and culture.

The month concludes on 26-27 June with the return of the Playpen Reunion, featuring the 1990s configuration of Big Noise and Mr President.

According to The Reef Hotel Casino, the event series builds on the popularity of previous Disco Revolution performances, Back to the 80s nights and Playpen Reunion events.

All performances will be held at BAR36 and entry will be free, with no tickets required.

The venue is encouraging patrons to embrace the spirit of each decade, from 70s disco fashion and 80s neon styles to 90s-inspired looks.

The celebrations mark The Reef Hotel Casino’s 30-year milestone, with organisers aiming to bring together audiences across generations through a shared appreciation of music from the past three decades.
