Soccer legends awarded lifetime accolades
LEICHHARDT Football Club has awarded life membership to Gavin Rumble and Karl Bennett in recognition of their long-standing service and commitment to the club.

The club announced the honours this week, acknowledging the contributions both men have made across playing, coaching and administrative roles at Leichhardt Football Club.
Mr Rumble has been involved with the club since 1977 and has been part of what the club described as the LFC family for almost five decades.
Over that time, he has contributed to a range of roles, including as a player and coach, before moving into his current position as an executive committee member.
The club said Mr Rumble’s long-term involvement and willingness to serve the club in different capacities had helped shape its ongoing development and stability.
Mr Bennett was recognised for his impact as a coach and club official. He has coached the club’s youth, under-23s and premier men’s teams and was credited with leading the premier men’s side to consecutive grand final victories in 2022 and 2023.
In addition to his coaching roles, Mr Bennett serves as club development officer, where he has been involved in player development and club policy. He is also a committee member and was acknowledged by the club as a key contributor in these areas.
Mr Bennett is also a life member of the Leichhardt Junior Soccer Club, reflecting his involvement in football development beyond the senior club.
The club thanked both men for their “passion, leadership and lasting contribution” to the club.
The club said the awards recognised years of service and commitment that had supported both on-field success and off-field development.
Life membership is one of the highest honours the club can bestow and is reserved for individuals who have made a significant and sustained contribution to the club.
