Snow laughing matter: tradies bring the fun
RONDO Theatre’s current pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Tradies, is a vibrant and engaging show for audiences of all ages. From the moment the curtains opened, performers encouraged sing-alongs and cheeky participation, keeping the theatre buzzing.
The cast is impressively diverse in age, with young actors shining alongside seasoned performers, creating a dynamic ensemble. Their energy and charm bring every scene to life, while the FNQ twist on the classic tale, combined with funny gags, songs, and dance routines, keeps both children and adults entertained from start to finish.
Snow White, played by Pyper Kingston-Bull, finds refuge in a display home being built on the far side of the forest from the evil Queen Malice’s palace. There, she meets a colourful team of tradies: Bricky (Caden Sintome), Chippy (Indiana Jones), Sparky (Lila Bordujenko), Arty the painter (Alice Macdonald), Lou the plumber (Emrys Birkbeck-McKay), Gofer (Oberon Birkbeck-McKay), and their boss (Michelle Andrews). Together, this energetic ensemble brings humour, charm, and plenty of memorable interactions with both Snow White and the audience.
Director Cath Willacy’s vision is evident throughout the production, from carefully choreographed dances to the witty timing of jokes. Behind the scenes, the crew’s dedication shines in seamless set changes, colourful costumes, and inventive props, all of which help transport the audience into this playful version of the story.
Audience favourites include the antics of court jester Muddles and the scheming Queen Malice, whose attempts to thwart Snow White spark plenty of laughter. The seven tradies provide endless comic relief, and their interactions with Snow White make the narrative fun and unpredictable.
Striking a perfect balance of humour, music, and audience participation, Snow White and the Seven Tradies proves a thoroughly family-friendly experience. The performers’ enthusiasm is infectious, making the pantomime a festive must-see this season.
All 15 performances have sold out. However, a limited number of tickets may become available at the Box Office 30 minutes before remaining shows, often due to cancellations or returns. It’s worth checking on the night.
