Blending dream pop and soul pop with touches of blues, Bad Boy explores themes of empowerment, confidence and self-expression.

Written while busking in Byron Bay, the track celebrates embracing one’s “inner baddie” and the freedom to be unapologetically oneself.

“I want people to feel untamed, sexy and alive when they hear it,” Ms Gallant said.

“That wild, confident part of yourself that doesn’t need permission to shine.”

The song, produced by Josh Beattie and mastered by Paul Blakey, combines hypnotic beats, cinematic textures and slide guitar with Ms Gallant’s soulful, ethereal vocals.

Ms Gallant described performing a new track live as both “a little bit scary” and “really fresh and good, like you are really in the moment and present with it.”

She said the experience of touring internationally had shaped her music and stage presence.

“The more I play, the more confident I feel … I just get into more of a groove and more into the moment of it and connecting more with the audience.”

Born in England, Ms Gallant has lived in Australia for many years and has been based in Cairns for the past four.

The single is available from 7 November.
