Senior carer honoured
KARINA Smith has been named Cairns’ best carer by Senior Helpers Far North Queensland.

As part of Senior Helpers Week, community members were invited to nominate extraordinary carers – whether professional support workers, family members, or neighbours – who consistently go above and beyond in their dedication to others. The campaign received a heartwarming number of nominations, highlighting the extraordinary compassion and resilience within our community.
Ms Smith, who manages aged care at Cairns Cleaning Contractors, was presented with $1000.
She said she felt “honoured” to have been voted as Cairns’ best carer.
“It’s just nice to be recognised,” Ms Smith said.
“I just do what I love – it means everything to me.”
Senior Helpers co-managing director Kylie Hamilton said “we are very proud of the carers in Cairns – they are exceptional,” she said.
Co-managing director Jonathan Jeynes said it was important to support and recognise carers.
