Saints go marching in for annual presentation night
CAIRNS Saints AFL Club has celebrated a strong season on and off the field.

Senior coach Chris Novy said the night at the Edge Hill Cairns Bowls Club last Saturday was an excellent opportunity to bring the club together.
“It was really good. The culture we’re building this year has really lifted, everyone’s inclusive and buying into the program – and it showed on Saturday night,” he said.
Zac Stracker took home the coveted senior best and fairest award, recognised for his consistent performance throughout the season.
“Zac was probably our most consistent player and it was great to have him back up from down south,” Mr Novy said.
Tiarna Ahwang was senior women’s best and fairest winner.
Highlights of the evening included a heartfelt speech from senior player Adam Gross. Jake O’Halloran will take the reins for the senior women’s team, while Mr Novy will continue as senior men’s coach.

Mr Novy described the club’s current culture as “connected,” reflecting improved links between the men’s and women’s departments and stronger off-field leadership.
Looking ahead to 2026, Mr Novy said the focus would be on maintaining the current squad, adding a few experienced players and continuing to develop the young talent coming through the Saints system.
He also gave a special shout-out to football operations manager Jake O’Halloran for his pivotal role in shaping the club’s culture.
“The more our junior players play together and gain experience, the stronger this team will become. With a few additions and the right guidance, I think 2026 will be an exciting year for the Saints,” Mr Novy said.
