Far North Queensland independent producers Maehem Productions and Buenos Nachos Productions have joined forces to present ‘Monsoon Season’, a new production celebrating the diversity of Queensland burlesque.

The collaboration between Madame Maehem and Nina Supernova aims to provide a major platform for local and interstate performers, featuring comedy, cabaret and theatrical entertainment.

“There’s extraordinary talent in Far North Queensland and so much incredible burlesque happening across the state,” the co-producers said.

“We wanted to bring those worlds together and create something really spectacular for Cairns … a show that celebrates the artistry, diversity and sheer fabulousness of Queensland burlesque, with all the glamour and excess it deserves.”

Leading the line-up is Clara Cupcakes, an award-winning vaudevillian and comedy performer known for her humour and theatrical performances across Australia’s comedy and cabaret circuit.

She will be joined by Brooke Bird, an internationally-accomplished burlesque artist whose performances incorporate ballet and traditional showgirl influences.

In 2025, Ms Bird produced and performed her first international burlesque tour across five European countries.

Also appearing is Miss Tickle Allure, an award-winning Australian performer renowned for her elaborate showgirl costumes and theatrical performances.

She recently competed at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, bringing her international performance experience to the Cairns production.

The event will feature a mix of established Queensland performers and Far North Queensland artists, with organisers promising lavish costumes, comedy, theatrical performances and cabaret.

Drawing inspiration from the tropical environment, Monsoon Season will incorporate elaborate staging, glamour and humour in a production showcasing the breadth of Queensland’s burlesque scene.

Further Queensland and Far North Queensland performers are expected to be announced ahead of the 20 November showcase.

The performance is strictly for audiences aged 18 and above.
