Resolving conflicts all together
QUINNESSENTIALS is a Cairns-based organisation dedicated to helping people, businesses and communities navigate challenging situations through clear communication, mediation and support.

At its core, the company exists to strengthen communities by empowering individuals with the skills and confidence to resolve conflict constructively.
Founded by managing director Michael Quinn, QuinnEssentials is built on a long standing commitment to service and community wellbeing.
He brings broad experience gained over nearly 15 years in the military, including operational service, followed by significant work in the not-for-profit sector.
This includes helping establish the national charity Mates4Mates, which supports veterans and their families affected by service life, as well as contributing to the creation of RUonQ, a charity developed to support Qantas staff during major global events such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
Behind many of Cairns’ small businesses are people juggling pressure, responsibility and relationships – often all at once.
For local organisation QuinnEssentials, helping people navigate those challenges is at the heart of what they do.
Based in Cairns, QuinnEssentials works alongside local business owners, managers and staff when communication breaks down, tensions rise or difficult conversations feel overwhelming.
Whether it’s a workplace dispute, stress within a team or challenges that spill over from personal or community pressures, the focus is on helping people feel heard and supported so they can move forward.
“Every business is made up of people,” Mr Quinn said.
“And when people are struggling, the business feels it too.”
He said this belief underpinned QuinnEssentials’ approach – that people were the experts in their own lives and workplaces, and with the right guidance, they could resolve even the most difficult situations.
Today, QuinnEssentials delivers practical communication skills training, conflict resolution support and nationally accredited mediation training. The organisation operates on a simple but powerful belief: people are the experts in their own lives and deserve the opportunity to take an active role in resolving issues that affect them.
This philosophy has led QuinnEssentials to provide a unique mediation service in the remote Aboriginal community of Aurukun, known locally as Thaa’ Pant, and to expand into other communities by invitation. The organisation has since worked across Far North Queensland and beyond, including the Torres Strait and outer islands, Cape York communities, Townsville, Mount Isa, Doomadgee, Rockhampton, Mackay, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.
While the organisation also supports remote and regional communities across Far North Queensland by invitation, its roots remain firmly in Cairns. By helping local people have better conversations, resolve conflict respectfully and strengthen relationships, QuinnEssentials is quietly contributing to healthier workplaces – and a stronger community – across the region.
