Reeling In The Goodness

FOR over 45 years, Bills Marine has been serving the mad keen boating enthusiasts of the Tropical North, and now the team is giving back to the community.

Bills Marine have put on their fishing caps and have come up with the ultimate way their team and loyal customers can give back to the community.

After spending 45 years of creating memories and reeling in the big ones, Bills Marine is bursting with pride to be able to give back to charities that have supported them over the past four decades.

Director Scott Heinemann and Parts and Accessories Manager Paul Bellamy announced - Community Dollars.

Community Dollars will allow customers to nominate a local charity that will receive a percentage from their sale to the donation pool of money each quarter.

Scott Heinemann has chosen three charities for the first quarter to receive the donations to get the ball rolling.

“We’ve selected Cairns Coast Guard, Port Douglas VMR, and The Tablelands Fish Stocking Society,” Mr Heinemann said.

“The Coast Guards look after us when we are out on the water, and the fish stocking society is all about restocking the Tinaroo dam, an essential job.”

As the hub for the local fishing and boating community, Mr Heinemann said his team is ready to make a difference in the day-today functioning of local charities.

“Community Dollars is a way the community can get involved and for us to give back because, at the end of the day, it’s these industries that help us,” he said.

Paul Bellamy cannot wait to see the program rolled out on the back of the business’s success.

“I’m excited about the program and that we are in the position to give back to the community and the people that have supported Bills Marine for so long,” Mr Bellamy said.

“There are a lot of non-for-profit organisations out there that rely on businesses or donations, and we are glad we are in a position to assist.

“The three charities that Scott chose upfront are all valuable organisations within our industry.

“We are hoping through this program other charities will come forward and nominate themselves for some assistance,” he said.
