NORTHERN Pride captain Taylor Fenton has claimed one of Queensland rugby league’s major individual honours, winning the Steph Hancock Medal as the best player in the BMD Premiership.

Fenton received the award at the Queensland Rugby League awards evening at Brisbane City Hall, where more than 400 guests gathered to recognise achievements across the statewide competitions and in State of Origin programs.
Her season was further recognised by selection at halfback in the BMD Premiership Team of the Year.
Northern Pride also celebrated honours awarded to Ben Walker, Tiana Power and Campbell Duffy.
Walker was named Mal Meninga Cup player of the year, while Power was selected at centre in the BMD Premiership team of the year.
Duffy received the Murray Hurst Education Award, completing a strong showing by the Cairns-based club at the awards.
Across the wider competition, Western Clydesdales fullback Christopher Woodbridge claimed the Petero Civoniceva Medal as the Hostplus Cup’s best player. He was also named the QRL’s rookie of the year and selected in the Hostplus Cup team of the year at fullback.
The evening also recognised six new QRL life members – Wayne Bennett, Mal Meninga, Eddie Ward, Karyn Murphy, Bruce Hatcher and Des Morris.
Queensland Maroons forwards Jessika Elliston and Keilee Joseph were joint winners of the Annie Banks Medal, while Chelsea Lenarduzzi received the Renae Kunst Medal.
