Northern Pride chief executive officer Garreth Smith said the Hostplus Cup (HPC) team came away with a hard-fought victory, lifting them up to 13th on the ladder.

“The coach noted that we were a little slow out of the gates in the first half, but the boys responded superbly after the break, showing great composure and game management to close out the win,” he said.

“Likewise, our BMD Premiership ladies put in a terrific performance to also defeat Tweed.

“That result has propelled them from seventh into fourth place on the ladder, showing we have valid hopes of finals.

“We are particularly pleased with the way the team bounced back after the disappointment in Mackay the week prior.

“This Saturday, we’re back at Barlow Park for what will be our last HPC home game of the season as we take on the PNG Hunters, while our BMD side faces the Central Queensland Capras.”

Kick-off times are:

  • BMD Pride vs Capras – 3.20pm

  • HPC Pride vs PNG Hunters – 5.30pm.

The club will be hosting past players on Old Boys Day,” Mr Smith said.
