Pride fall short at Yarrabah against Burleigh, 28-22
THE Kenfrost Homes Northern Pride will enjoy a bye round this weekend following a spirited ‘Country Round’ performance in Yarrabah and ahead of a blockbuster ‘Women in League’ celebration next Friday night at Barlow Park.

Last Saturday’s Hostplus Cup clash saw the Pride fall just short in a nail-biter against competition leaders the Burleigh Bears, going down 28-22 in front of a vocal home crowd at Jilara Oval.
Pride CEO Garreth Smith thanked the Yarrabah community for their warm hospitality and reflected on the wider impact of the Country Week initiative.
“It was more than just a game – it was a powerful few days of community connection,” he said.
“Our players, coaches and staff had the privilege of visiting local schools, colleges and junior/senior rugby league clubs in the lead-up, sharing stories, skills and a mutual love for the game.”
The close contest against the Bears marked one of the Pride’s grittiest showings of the season, with Mr Smith commending the squad’s effort and determination.

“The grit and effort shown was a testament to the pride in the jersey and the resilience of this squad,” he said.
All eyes now turn to Friday, August 9, as the Pride host the Norths Devils at Barlow Park for Women in League Round.
The Pride’s Hostplus Cup squad, currently sitting 13th on the ladder, will enter round 20 against a high-flying Devils outfit leading the competition.
Meanwhile, the BMD Pride side, placed sixth, will line up for round 7 of their season against the third-placed Devils.
The club is also proud to partner with FNQRL to host the women’s finals series, with junior and senior finals from under 13s through to A grade all set to light up the field.
