Locals are encouraged to take part in practical disaster preparedness initiatives designed to build personal and community resilience ahead of future emergencies.

The Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness (P-CEP) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) programs are being delivered across the region by the FNQ Neighbourhood Centres Collaborative, comprising the Cooktown, Mossman, Port Douglas, Mareeba and Atherton neighbourhood centres.

The programs focus on strengthening preparedness at both individual and organisational levels, ensuring communities are better equipped to respond to and recover from disasters.

The workshops guide participants through identifying appropriate actions to take in a range of emergency scenarios, helping people make informed decisions quickly and confidently when it matters most. Residents, community groups and business owners are encouraged to attend upcoming sessions.
