Popular NicNak Shed now open for weekend trading
DOUGLAS Shire locals have seen their desire for some weekend retail therapy considerably enhanced with the popular NicNak Shed, in Port Douglas, opening its doors on both Saturday and Sunday between 9.30am and 12.30pm.
These extra hours are in addition to the normal business hours, Monday to Thursday 9am to 4pm and Friday 9am to 2.30pm.
The NicNak Shed, run by fulltime manager Joanne (Jo) Westgate and a band of hardworking volunteers, sells quality clothing, baby goods, books, toys, jewellery, linen, bric-a-brac, giftware, furniture, electrical goods, plus camping equipment ... the list goes on.
This amazing range of products, in store, would not be possible without the generosity of the local community.
It is important to remember that the NicNak Shed is not the local dump. If donating items, keep in mind there are certain items that cannot be sold, such as stained, pilled, torn clothing, second hand underwear, broken toys, stained linen and pillows etc. Items dumped just create more work for the busy team.
Just as a heads up, the NicNak Shed has an annual fashion parade coming up on Saturday 29 August at the Pullman Sea Temple Resort. This annual event is always a very popular afternoon in Port Douglas, so it is recommended that people book their spot early. The NicNak Shed currently has details and a booking link on its Facebook page.
All models are dressed by the much-loved op shop and local businesses very generously donate prizes and staging to assist fundraising on the day. Proceeds go to support the Port Douglas Community Service Network.
