Pontoon and ramp finished
RESIDENTS and visitors to Bloomfield will have safe access to the river, following the completion of a new pontoon and boat ramp this month.

Member for Cook David Kempton said the works, carried out by Maritime Safety Queensland, were completed two months ahead of schedule and would provide “safer, more resilient access” to the waterway and stronger facilities able to cope with weather events.
The reinstated pontoon and boat ramp replace the facilities that were destroyed during ex-tropical Cyclone Jasper and the December 2023 floods.
Mr Kempton said the project met all environmental requirements and modern marine infrastructure standards.
“Design and construction were guided by detailed assessments of environmental impacts, riverbank stability and site conditions,” he said.
“Completion of these works is important for the local community, restoring safer access to the river and supporting recreational and boating activities in the region.”
The project was delivered in partnership with the Cook Shire Council.
