Police seek assistance in boat fire

Police are seeking public assistance after a boat was deliberately set on fire on Friday afternoon.

At 3.25pm police were notified that an eleven metre sailing vessel was on fire in the Trinity Inlet.

The vessel was moored in the inlet and had been undergoing restoration work however no one was on the vessel at the time of the fire.

People on a neighbouring vessel observed the fire and contacted authorities.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious or a dinghy in the area just prior to the fire to contact police.
