Our girl ‘Bobsled Bree’
AUSTRALIAN bobsledder Bree Walker has claimed silver in Germany and secured her third consecutive overall silver Crystal Globe as she builds momentum ahead of the upcoming Winter Olympics.

Now based in Cairns, Ms Walker continued her strong international form over the weekend, reinforcing her place among the world’s elite on the World Cup circuit.
The result marks the third year in a row Ms Walker has secured the overall silver Crystal Globe, underlining her consistency across the international season.
Originally from the Yarra Valley in Victoria, Ms Walker’s journey to bobsleigh has followed an unconventional path.
A former hurdler, she transitioned into the sport almost a decade ago, going on to compete successfully in both the monobob and two-woman events at World Cup level.
With just weeks to go until the Winter Olympics in Italy, Ms Walker said the upcoming games would be particularly meaningful, with family travelling from Cairns and Victoria to support her.
“It’s pretty surreal to think about,” Ms Walker said.
“Having my family there, especially Mum seeing me race in person for the first time, makes this Olympic experience even more meaningful.”
The games will mark the first time her mother, Judie, has seen her compete live on the world stage.
The Australian Olympic team for Milano Cortina has now been officially announced, with Ms Walker selected to compete in both the monobob and two-woman events.
She will race alongside teammate Kiara Reddingius in the two-woman competition.
“It means the absolute world to be officially selected for another Australian team. I feel like the last games in 2022 were a bit of a whirlwind with COVID and everything, so this time I feel like I’m really able to take it in and enjoy this experience, and I’m really excited to represent Australia and put on the green and gold again,” Ms Walker said.
