One-of-a kind at beach
ONE of Far North Queensland’s longest-running community events will celebrate a major milestone when the Festival of the Knob marks its 20th anniversary at Yorkeys Knob on Saturday 6 June.

The festival will run from 10am to 4pm at Sims Esplanade and is expected to attract locals and visitors for a day of community activities, entertainment, food and market stalls.
More than 90 stallholders will take part in the event, offering handmade crafts, local produce, artisan goods and other products.
Food and drink will again be a key feature, with seven food vans serving a range of cuisines alongside specialty drink vendors.
Local businesses Macalisters Brewery and Distil on the Hill will also be participating.
The festival’s signature attractions will return for the anniversary celebration, including the Hamper of the Knob raffle and the Toss the Knob competition.

Organisers said the Hamper of the Knob featured gift vouchers and products donated by businesses in and around Yorkeys Knob, with the first prize valued at $1800.
The Toss the Knob competition, a regular festival feature, involves competitors throwing a large doorknob.
“We’re incredibly proud to celebrate 20 years of the Festival of the Knob,” the event organiser said.
“It’s a fun, relaxed day that really captures the spirit of Yorkeys Knob – bringing people together to enjoy great food, local talent and a few laughs along the way.”
Organisers say the festival continues to celebrate local culture, creativity and community connection while supporting small businesses across the region.
The Festival of the Knob will be held at Sims Esplanade, Yorkeys Knob, on Saturday 6 June from 10am to 4pm, with organisers expecting another strong community turnout for the milestone event.
