Olympic emblems on show
THE Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games emblems have been unveiled after a different piece of the emblems (six in total) was revealed over several days – the first in Cairns last week.

The complete emblems reveal several elements:
Two variations of an iconic and native Australian bird:
The pink cockatoo (Olympic Games theme) and sulphur-crested cockatoo (Paralympic Games theme) – known for their cheeky, inquisitive and playful nature – synonymous with Queenslanders and Australians
The outline of Queensland within the cockatoo’s crest: with Queensland home to Australia’s third Olympic Games and second Paralympic Games in 2032
The Olympic and Paralympic flames within the cockatoo’s crest: a universally recognised symbol of unity, hope and inspiration
A group of three and two feathers on the cockatoo’s crest: a subtle nod to a home games in ‘32.
Games organising committee president Andrew Liveris said the emblems had been highly anticipated and he was delighted with the outcome.
“Olympic and paralympic games emblems are an opportunity to promote the unique character of a games, inviting the world to learn more, visit, invest and be part of an event unlike any other,” he said.
“In the case of Brisbane 2032’s emblems, multiple elements have been subtly woven together to encapsulate the uniqueness of our home and environment and the global appeal and symbol of the games.
“The reveal has been a proud and significant moment in our games journey, as our emblems help focus the eyes of the world on Brisbane, Queensland and Australia – and the incredible nature and wildlife, mixed with warm and welcoming character, that will be on full display in just under six years’ time.”
Mr Liveris said the emblems had been warmly received by senior games stakeholders, including the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
“We canvassed a wide cross-section of local and international communities ahead of the reveal, as well as conducting extensive market research, testing elements and ensuring there was a high degree of likeability, distinctiveness and memorability,” he said.
“Pleasingly, there was overwhelming positivity towards our thinking ...”
