The Hostplus Cup side went down 24–26 after conceding an early lead.

Head coach Sam Williams said “we gave them a 16-point head start, and it was too much to come back from”.

“We need to tidy up a few areas and will reset over the bye weekend this weekend.”

Despite the result, there were signs of improvement, with the squad continuing to build consistency and combinations across the field.

In the Mal Meninga Cup, Northern Pride were edged out 32–34 in what was the side’s final game of the season.

The match was a close contest, with strong effort shown throughout.

The result brings the Mal Meninga Cup campaign to a close, with the team finishing on a competitive note.

While both results went against Northern Pride, the club said there were positives to take from the performances as the Hostplus Cup side continues its season.

The team now enters a bye weekend.

Northern Pride will return to action at Barlow Park following the break.
