The 2026 BMD Premiership draw was on Wednesday, marking another milestone for the club’s women’s program, which has continued to grow following its inaugural 2025 season.

The expanding interest in the BMD side is helping to lay the foundations for a new era of women’s rugby league in the region.

Northern Pride CEO Garreth Smith said the back-to-back announcements had sparked strong community interest.

“We’re really pleased with both draws and the opportunities they create for our club,” he said.

“Avoiding the peak of the wet season for as long as possible will make the viewing experience more enjoyable for fans.

“The return to a 3pm kick-off also gives our players a true home-ground advantage in the heat, while supporting family-friendly scheduling so fans can enjoy the game and continue on with their evening.”

A key feature of the 2026 HPC schedule is the return of the club’s celebrated rounds: Rivalry Round, Country Round, Indigenous Round and Women in League Round. The latter has been the club’s highest-attended home game for two consecutive years, reflecting the strong community support for the BMD side.

The Northern Pride thanked members, partners and supporters for their ongoing commitment as preparations continue for 2026.
