Joseph Amerio will work with the operational team that supports general manager Steve Molnar. He will oversee day-to-day resort operations.

Mr Amerio comes to the resort after spending three years as general manager of Mantra Portsea in Port Douglas, where he led the team through a $1 million refurbishment project and oversaw the implementation of high-impact sustainability initiatives.

Prior to this, he held positions throughout Australia, including at Airlie Beach as an operations manager and a general manager in Canberra.

“The Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas has been an icon of Port Douglas hospitality since it opened its doors in 1987,” he said.

“I’m thrilled to join this award-winning property as hotel manager and continue its decades-long reputation of excellence.

“With the Great Barrier Reef to one side and the Daintree rainforest to the other, Port Douglas is a truly unique Australian region.

“I’m excited to welcome visitors to our piece of paradise and support Sheraton’s commitment to preserving its vitality for generations to come.”

Mr Molnar said Mr Amerio brought a wealth of knowledge to the resort.
