New mayor highly likely for Cassowary Coast

CASSOWARY Coast Regional Council is likely to have a new mayor with Cr Teresa Millwood commanding 61.73 per cent or 9739 votes of 76.15 per cent counted (21,603) as of 11am today.

Current mayor Mark Nolan is a distant second (38.27 per cent, 6039 votes).

In division one it is a close race with Chris Littlemore ahead (51.81 per cent, 758 votes) of Peter Reed (48.19 per cent, 705).

It’s also a close call in division 2 with deputy mayor Cr Barry Barnes in front (41.71 per cent, 958), ahead of Ellen Jessop (39.53 per cent, 908) and Marcus Thomas (18.76 per cent, 431).

Division 3 councillor Trudy Tschui leads with 59.59 per cent or 882 votes ahead of former councillor Wayne Kimberley (40.4 per cent, 598).

Cr Nicholas Pervan (div. 4), Jeffery Baines (div. 5) and Renee McLeod (div. 6) were uncontested.
