The new premises at 130 Lake Street replace offices previously spread across three levels at Aplin Street and coincide with the launch of Centacare FNQ’s refreshed brand identity.

Centacare executive director Anita Veivers said staff had been preparing for the move for 18 months.

“We’re finally in our new location here in Lake Street, and so we are co-located with our colleagues with the diocese, and it’s just fantastic to have a new, fresh area where we’re all on one level and we can cooperate more easily with our teams,” Ms Veivers said.

Ms Veivers said having all teams together would improve the way services were delivered.

“The new building’s fantastic, because, as I say, we’re all together, we’re all on one floor, which means people can cooperate and collaborate more easily,” she said.

“It means that it builds stronger relationships between teams, which helps us to deliver better cohesive services to the community,” she said.

Ms Veivers said cost-of-living pressures were driving increased demand for support.

“People are really struggling. We definitely see that in our emergency relief program,” she said.
