New era in housing dawns on city’s southside
THE first of many homes ready to move in to have hit the market at White Rock.

Kenfrost Homes has released stage one of White Rock Estate with 70 lots available and homes going under construction soon, many nearing completion.
The predominantly four-bedroom, two-bathroom homes from $805,000 are aimed at families with school age children, as well as couples and professionals.
The estate is 1.5km from Trinity Anglican School, a stone’s throw from White Rock State School, close to Mount Sheridan and Earlville Town shopping centres, nearby parks – including a 3700sqm park in the estate – and 15km from Cairns International Airport.
Kenfrost director Lisa Harris said with close proximity to amenities, the low-maintenance homes would also attract savvy investors looking to add to their portfolios.
“There’s always going to be urgency for housing in the southern corridor,” she said.
“It was my understanding council wasn’t expecting the housing boom to happen until more like 2031, so we are about five-to-six years ahead of where everyone was expecting (Cairns) to be.

“Part of that was COVID where people moved up here to get away from it all and the reality is that it’s cheaper up here (than metro areas).
Mulgrave MP Terry James said it was “fantastic to see the latest stage of Kenfrost’s new development in White Rock”.
“It’s all happening, we need housing and what better building company to provide this housing than a local builder like Kenfrost,” he said.
“It’s probably one of the last subdivisions you’ll see so close to the city because, as everyone’s aware, everything is moving south. Developments like this take a long time to get through the system and now we’ve got the first 70 lots opening up, followed by a lot more as the stages roll out ... in the electorate of Mulgrave.”
