New era for Rotary club
THE new Rotary Club of Douglas FNQ is in full swing.

Previously known as Mossman Rotary, president-elect Craig Schofield highlighted the club needed to change in order to meet the changing environment.
“We will be showing a new direction which includes some new projects,” Mr Schofield said.
“The aim now is to attract more members and engage better with the community,” he said.
The original Mossman Rotary club previously met every second Wednesday of the month at Club Mossman and had one social event and one service event per month.
With the name change, the new business networking breakfasts will now be held on the third Wednesday of each month and the existing second Wednesday of the month will now become the club’s monthly board meeting.
The club intends to lead by example, by helping with projects that are going to make a real impact in the local area. For example, the redesign of the visitor map and ‘I left the lid’ event that’s helping raise awareness and raise funds for mental health throughout our area, particularly as farmers deal with the real change from sugarcane to other types of farming.
The current board is looking for people who have a passion for helping the local community and who want to see change within Douglas Shire.
There is an annual fee of $225 to join. Details are available via email at douglas.fnq@rotary9560.org or 0419 494 800.
