Never forgetting our war heroes
EVERY year at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, people in Australia and around the world pause for a minute of silent reflection in memory of those who died while serving their country.

Since 1914, Australian servicemen and women have travelled the world in the pursuit of peace, from Flanders Fields to the barren lands of Afghanistan and Iraq.
They have conquered battlefields, carried bloodied comrades from the trenches and quietly prayed in the dark.
They have saved lives and helped rebuild nations.
Everyone sacrificed something, but some gave everything.
This Remembrance Day, Wednesday 11 November, RSL Queensland is urging Queenslanders to pause at 11am, wear a poppy, and if possible, attend a local service.
“Remembrance Day is a deeply personal occasion for many veterans and Defence families – and a shared national moment for all Australians,” RSL Queensland state vice-president Brigadier Arran Hassell said.
“It may only be one minute, but by pausing together we show that their service and sacrifice still matter. Lest we forget,” he said.
More than 170 Remembrance Day services are expected to be held across the state by RSL Queensland sub branches, giving workplaces, schools and communities an opportunity to come together and honour all who lost their lives in the service of their country.
