Mystery and humour bring out the best in Girl in Tan Boots
THE Rondo’s Girl in Tan Boots charmingly narrates a story of womanhood, loneliness and feeling invisible, wrapped in a mystery that will leave audiences crafting their own theories.

Girl in Tan Boots, directed by Kimberly Greaves, follows the journey of detective Anna Carapetis interpreted by Rondo favourite Kelly Moran, in the search of missing woman, Hannah, who disappeared while waiting for a ‘secret admirer’ at a Sydney train station.
Director Kimberly Greaves described Girl in Tan Boots as “true crime meets Kath ‘n’ Kim” with its hilarious and quirky characters and almost surreal narration.
“When I first read this play, I was lured by the whimsical style of magical realism, but as the narrative unfolded, I was struck by the real question; as women, who or what makes us feel visible,” Ms Greaves said.
Hannah’s family and friends become the key to unveil what could have led to her disappearance and audiences get to slowly peel back the layers and get a feel of who Hannah is.
Although quite mysterious and at times tragic, Girl in Tan Boots remains engaging because of the humour and quirkiness in its non-traditional narration that makes you unsure of who’s there and how and why but in the most entertaining way possible.
Led by a charming all-female cast, Girl in Tan Boots slowly gets a hold of you and when you least expect it, you are caught in the investigation, just as detective Carapetis, you crave for answers and for the clue that will lead you to Hannah.

The chemistry between the cast is palpable and beyond the fun and quirkiness audiences will also get to reflect on womanhood, how the decisions we make affect the people we love and the struggles of feeling invisible to the world.
Mandy (Meg King), Lucy (Lillie McNamara) and Katie (Amber Grossman) as Hannah’s friends were magnificent and hilarious bringing humour and joy to otherwise heavy subjects.
Girl in Tan Boots delights audiences with a high-energy performance with a lot of heart and a deep dive into women’s lives and what fulfills them, and a mystery for thriller and crime novel enthusiasts.
With Girl in Tan Boots, Cairns community theatre lovers will be treated to a true crime story, with humorous dialogue and a deep message on love, loneliness and the struggles of feeling inappropriate and unseen.
