Mr Moss said the work was shaped by events in 2020, including the breakdown of his marriage, the challenges of co-parenting and the wider uncertainty brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“There was a lot of inspiration from world stuff going on, world trauma and a lot of stuff to do with that. And then a lot of my own sort of psychological battles that I’ve gone through in my own life,” he said.

After moving in with his aunt and uncle, Mr Moss began recording in a home studio with his uncle and co-producer Brenton Thiele.

“Brenton played the drums on a fair few of the tracks and played bass on the majority of the tracks,” he said.

Mr Moss said the songwriting process became more consistent once he began focusing on music daily.

“I hear different sounds and noises early in the morning when I wake up first thing and I sort of need to move myself away from everything and sort of isolate myself so I’m able to get it down,” he said.

All lyrics, vocals and guitar were written and performed by Mr Moss, with Mr Thiele co-producing and contributing instrumental work.

Mr Moss said each track had its own character, but all were shaped by his personal experiences, including long-term struggles with addiction.

“As of July, next year, I’ll be three years clean and sober,” he said.

Mr Moss said the track ‘Sleeps till Krissmiss’ holds meaning, describing it as “quite a personal song”.

He hopes listeners find different messages within the album.

“For the album in general, it’s just like a bit of a rebirth, you know, a restart,” he said.

The album, which dropped on 10 November, is available on all major platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and Amazon.

Mr Moss said a recent work injury has prevented him from performing live, but he hopes to form a band and return to the stage when he recovers.
