The event will run from 3pm to 10pm on Saturday 16 May at the Cominos House car park on Greenslopes Street.

CAFNEC fundraising and communications coordinator Derryn Knuckey said the organisation’s team was excited to invite the community to “an unforgettable evening of music, connection and purpose”.

“Let’s raise funds for conservation, and have a great time doing it,” Mr Knuckey said.

The fundraiser has been organised with support from local music artists and events companies Enter Stage Right and Solid Sound Solutions.

CAFNEC said the event would feature music spanning indy folk, reggae, hip hop, soul, disco, funk and afro house.

Artists on the line-up include Zoey Sutra, Rah Jar, El Moth, EarthKin, Tessa Devine, Cam Kennedy, Jimmy Flipshyt & Bardi and Zé, with hosting by Tegan Koster.

The event will also include a barbecue, games and prize giveaways.

Tickets are priced at $22 general admission and $11 for past Move for Our Environment participants, while children under 15 can attend for free.

CAFNEC said all proceeds would go directly towards staff wages for the organisation.

The launch party is part of CAFNEC’s broader Move for Our Environment campaign, a peer-to-peer fundraiser held each September in which participants choose an exercise activity and seek sponsorship from family, friends and colleagues.

CAFNEC said the initiative encouraged people to walk, run, ride, skate or swim while raising funds for environmental conservation efforts across Far North Queensland.

Online ticket sales close at midday on Friday 15 May, with door sales available if tickets remain.
