The FNQ Unity Cricket Cup 2026 will take place on Sunday 25 January at Walker Road, Edmonton, with play starting from 10am.

The family-friendly community event will bring together teams representing India, Australia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan under the theme ‘Uniting Cultures for a Cause’.

Organisers say the tournament is designed to use sport as a platform to strengthen community connections, promote inclusion and support charitable fundraising, while celebrating the cultural diversity of Far North Queensland.

The event aligns with both pre-Australia Day celebrations and India’s Republic Day, creating an opportunity for different communities to come together in a shared setting.

Alongside the on-field cricket action, the day will feature a range of activities for families and spectators, including kids’ activities, food stalls and cultural performances.

Organisers expect the mix of sport and cultural activities to draw participants and spectators from across the Cairns region.

Funds raised during the event will go towards Sri Lanka Flood Relief, supporting communities affected by recent flooding.

Organisers are encouraging locals to attend and support both the celebration of cultural unity and the fundraising cause.
