Mossman Bowls Club celebrates Harmony Week
Harmony Week is a celebration of Australia’s cultural diversity and a time to reflect on what we can do to be more respectful and inclusive of all cultures and ethnicities.

The Mossman Bowls Club wants to join in this celebration of diversity and support young Indigenous athletes while doing it with an event on Sunday, March 20, with live music, raffles, and a fundraiser.
General Manager of the Mossman Bowls Club, Greg Potter, said they want to embrace Harmony Week and support inclusivity.
“We’ll have The Kurranji Country Band from 3 pm to 6 pm; that’s our main event to get people exposed to Harmony Week,” Mr Potter said.
“We’re doing a fundraiser for the Mossman Sharks, our local rugby league team, and the money raised will go to the local Indigenous kids, the Junior Sharks, to buy gear and equipment for them so they can participate in the league.
“Mossman Bowls Club wants to play a part in Harmony Week and be inclusive of all cultural backgrounds.
“We have a high population of Indigenous people, and we want to get them involved and be more inclusive.”
Indigenous kids from varied age groups at the Mossman Shark Juniors will benefit from the funds the Mossman Bowls Club gather on Sunday.
“We’re just trying to get kids who may not be able to afford to play to help them with gear and get them comfortable playing with a new pair of boots or a new uniform,” Mr Potter said.
“It’s an open event; we’re hoping to see around 80 people coming along.
“So come along and have fun with The Kurranju Country Band and help support the Mossman Shark Juniors and celebrate diversity with us.”
The Harmony Week Event at the Mossman Bowls Club will happen this Sunday, March 20, from 2 pm to 6 pm. It is a free event, and everyone is encouraged to join the celebration.
