As part of the Queensland Government’s free kindergarten program, children enjoy 15 hours a week for 40 weeks each year giving every family access to high-quality early education.

But early childhood teacher Manu Okena said those hours were only the beginning.

“Here, the curriculum blends the Queensland kindergarten learning guidelines with hands-on experiences that build confidence, independence and a love of learning,” she said.

“The weekly schedule is filled with opportunities that go far beyond the classroom:

  • Swim lessons at the centre’s very own swim school, giving children essential water safety skills

  • Dance classes that inspire creativity, rhythm and self-expression

  • Physical education sessions that promote fitness, teamwork and coordination.

“All of this happens alongside play-based learning in purpose-built rooms and outdoor spaces brimming with cubby houses, gardens, sandpits and climbing equipment.

“Nutrition is just as important as education.

“Every meal, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea is freshly prepared by the centre cook, ensuring children have the fuel they need for a busy day of discovery.”

The kindergarten program also includes excursions to local primary schools and Bush Kindy adventures.
